Connect Muse to Shopify

Last updated: October 2026. With the Shopify connector, Muse can read your product catalog, orders and customer segments — then draft win-back emails, flag slow inventory, and audit discounts. It drafts; you approve.

Setup (about 10 minutes)

  1. Open Connections. In the Muse app, go to Settings → Connections (or Apps) and find Shopify.
  2. Authorize your store. Sign in via OAuth. Review the scope — expect read access to products, orders and customers. Approve only what you're comfortable with.
  3. Sanity-check with a read-only ask. "Summarize my store: top 10 products by revenue last 90 days, order count, repeat-customer rate." Verify against your Shopify dashboard before delegating anything.
  4. Set your approval habit. Keep per-action approval on. Muse should draft emails and discount plans, never send or apply them alone.

Copy-paste prompts

Win-back email draft

Draft a win-back email for customers who haven't ordered in 90 days. Use my top 3 products from last quarter, keep my brand voice, and include a 10% code — but do NOT send anything. Show me the draft first.

Slow inventory flag

Which SKUs haven't sold a unit in 60+ days? For each, tell me units on hand, days of stock at current velocity, and suggest: discount, bundle, or discontinue.

Discount audit

List every active discount code and automatic discount in my store. Flag any that stack in ways I didn't intend, and any codes that have been shared publicly.

Repeat-buyer segment

Build me a segment of customers with 2+ orders in the last 6 months. Tell me what they buy together and draft a thank-you email with an early-access offer for new arrivals.

Permissions & safety

  • Scope is shown at setup. Read what's requested — products, orders, customers — and grant the minimum you need.
  • Approval gates stay on. Emails, discounts and price changes all wait for your explicit OK. Treat any prompt that tries to bypass this as a red flag.
  • Revoke anytime. Settings → Connections → Shopify → Revoke. The agent loses access immediately.
  • Money data stays out of ads. Meta states Muse conversations and VM data aren't shared with its advertising systems.

Failure modes

  • Stale data. Muse reads on request, not in real time. If you just changed prices, say so — or ask it to re-read before acting.
  • Variant confusion. Multi-variant products (size/color) are where agents misread SKUs. Double-check any inventory math against the dashboard.
  • Discount stacking. Muse can suggest codes that combine badly. Always review the final cart math before publishing a code.
  • Brand voice drift. Drafts are drafts — read the win-back email once before it goes anywhere near a customer.
