Connect Muse to Stripe
Last updated: October 2026. With the Stripe connector, Muse can read your payouts, failed payments and disputes — then reconcile against your books, draft dunning emails, and prep dispute evidence. Money moves only with your approval.
Setup (about 10 minutes)
- Open Connections. In the Muse app, go to Settings → Connections (or Apps) and find Stripe.
- Start read-only. Authorize via OAuth with read access to payments, payouts and disputes. You don't need write scope for reconciliation.
- Verify with last month. "Reconcile last month's Stripe payouts against my records — list every payout, fee deducted, and flag anything that doesn't match." Check it against the Stripe dashboard.
- Add dunning later. Only widen scope (customer emails) once you trust its reads. Keep per-send approval on, always.
Copy-paste prompts
Payout reconciliation
Reconcile last month's Stripe payouts against QuickBooks. For each payout: date, gross, fees, net — and flag any payout, refund or fee that doesn't have a matching entry in my books.
Failed-payment triage
List all failed payments from the last 30 days, grouped by failure reason (insufficient funds, expired card, fraud block). For each group, draft a follow-up email in my brand voice. Do NOT send — show me the drafts.
Dispute prep
For each open dispute: summarize the charge, the customer's order history, and draft a response with the evidence I'd attach. I'll review and submit myself.
Revenue snapshot
Give me a weekly revenue snapshot: gross volume, refunds, disputes, net — vs. the prior week. Flag anything that moved more than 15%.
Permissions & safety
- Read-first. Reconciliation needs no write access. Grant the minimum scope for the job.
- No money moves without you. Refunds, payouts and transfers require explicit approval. If a prompt ever suggests otherwise, stop.
- Disputes are high-stakes. Let Muse draft evidence summaries, but you submit. Deadlines and representment rules are yours to own.
- Revoke anytime. Settings → Connections → Stripe → Revoke.
Failure modes
- Fee math. Stripe's fee structure (interchange+, international, currency conversion) trips up agents. Verify the first reconciliation line by line.
- Timezone edges. Payout dates vs. transaction dates can shift across month boundaries. Ask Muse to state which date it's using.
- False fraud flags. A "suspicious" payment might be your best customer traveling. Never auto-refund or auto-block on the agent's say-so.
- Dunning tone. Failed-payment emails go to people who want to pay you. Review the tone — firm but friendly — before anything sends.
