2. Subscription audit

The job: Find every recurring charge across your statements — including duplicates and forgotten trials — and build a cancel list.

Review my last 3 months of card and bank statements. List every recurring subscription or membership charge: merchant, amount, frequency, and first-seen date. Flag duplicates (same service charged twice) and anything that looks like a free trial that converted. Present it as a table with a "recommended action" column: keep, cancel, or investigate. Don't cancel anything — just report.

🔌 Needs: Bank account — connect in the Muse app first (setup guide).

Difficulty Moderate · Best for Anyone with subscription creep · Budget-conscious households

What Muse will do:

  1. Review your last 3 months of card and bank statements
  2. List every recurring charge: merchant, amount, frequency, first-seen date
  3. Flag duplicates and free trials that converted to paid
  4. Present a table with a recommended action: keep, cancel, or investigate
  5. Report only — cancel nothing without you

Why it works: explicit scope (3 months), explicit output format (table), explicit authority limit (report only). This was one of Meta's own launch examples.

Common failures:

  • Annual plans hide in 3 months of data — run a 12-month pass once a year
  • Family members' charges look like duplicates — confirm the cardholder first
  • Trial conversions need the signup date — note it down when you start a trial

Prompt variations:

  • Re-run quarterly to catch new subscriptions early
  • Add a cost-per-year column to make the total impossible to ignore
