What Meta claims
- Per-user Secure VM. Your agent and its data live in a dedicated virtual machine, isolated from other users.
- No password or payment visibility. Meta says Muse cannot see your passwords or payment methods.
- Not shared with ad systems. Meta says data inside the Secure VM is not shared with its advertising infrastructure.
- Sentinel approval. Nothing Muse does reaches the internet unless Sentinel approves it.
Model training: the opt-out
Per Meta's whitepaper as reported in September 2026, sanitized interaction trajectories may be used for model training unless you opt out. In plain terms: records of how you worked through tasks with Muse — with identifying details removed — can feed future model training.
If that bothers you, check the app's privacy settings for the opt-out and turn it off. Settings move around, so look for the current training-data or privacy toggle rather than following old screenshots.
What's still unclear
- Data retention periods. Meta has not published exact retention timelines for Muse data, as of September 2026.
- Whether paid tiers differ. Meta has not said whether Power or Maximum plans get stronger privacy guarantees than the free tier, as of September 2026.
Practical tips
- Opt out of training if you don't want interaction data used for model improvement.
- Connect minimally. Add email and calendar first; bring in shopping, health, or social accounts only when a use case needs them.
- Use approval gates. Keep confirmations on for payments, purchases, and anything outbound.
